Established in April 2000, Sterling Engineering and Design Group is primarily a structural consulting engineering firm providing service to commercial, residential and telecom clientele. The Company’s strength lies in developing innovative, yet practical structural solutions. Our services range from pricing packages and schematic designs to construction phase services. The principals and key personnel in the firm have a wide variety of engineering experience. We have provided services on projects throughout Texas , and in several states across the country. This broad experience has allowed Sterling Engineering & Design Group to become very well versed in construction practices and building code interpretation in different areas of the country. The company resume includes a wide variety of building and structure types. The types of projects include commercial, telecomunication, residential and multi-family and the materials utilized by these different projects range from timber to concrete to structural steel. The design philosophy of Sterling Engineering & Design Group is to provide an engineering solution for a project, based on the current and local construction practices. Towards that end, the firm interacts with the owner, preferred contractor, or the design consultants during the design phase and construction to arrive at an optimal solution.
KEY PERSONNEL
Sandeep Patel, P.E., S.E. President Mr. Patel started his path to success in 1986 when he entered the United States from Gujarat , India shortly after recveiving his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from M.S. University . He graduated from the University of Houston ’s Civil Engineering Master’s Degree program where his studies focused on confinement of concrete. His career in structural engineering began with employment at Ellisor & Tanner where he worked as a staff engineer gaining extensive experience in commercial and institutional buildings. Subsequent employment with Bihner Gentry provided excellent opportunity for Mr. Patel to gain experience in commercial construction and engineering. Ultimately, Mr. Patel’s career path took him to Pate Engineers where he managed the structural engineering division that he eventually purchased in 2000 and became Sterling Engineering and Design Group. Mr. Patel’s philosophy for the company is to provide engineering solutions for projects based on current and local construction practices. He interacts with the owner, preferred contractors, and the design consultants during the design and construction phases to arrive at an optimal solution. Mr. Patel’s philosophy for the employees of the company is to provide excellent opportunity early in each employee’s career to develop strong communication, management, and leadership skills. Towards that end, employees experience complete project management through all stages of project design and production. Ultimately, each employee has the potential for being selected to lead the company at the highest managerial level. Mr. Patel and his wife Nauka enjoy spending time with their three sons at their home in Cypress , Texas.	Christopher Hillman, P.E. Vice President of Engineering Mr. Hillman is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University where he received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1998. While in college, he also studied courses in architectural history and participated in a six week study abroad program in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. This experience fueled his interest in building design. Prior to joining SEDG, Mr. Hillman worked as a project engineer and project manager at Concept Engineers, Inc. His active practice in structural engineering includes all aspects of project execution including engineering analysis and design, regulatory agency compliance, technical production, and management. His exposure to a wide variety of projects in several states includes residential, commercial, educational, industrial, institutional and healthcare. His experience with building systems includes extensive design and analysis of wood, steel, concrete and composite structures. Mr. Hillman has developed communication, organization, and project and personnel management skills that have complimented his professional growth. As Vice President of SEDG, Mr. Hillman leads the staff of engineers, inspectors, designers and support staff towards the goals of the company philosophy. Under his leadership, the company continues to provide excellent service to our clients by implementing the cutting edge of technology. Mr. Hillman focuses on the implementation of technology in the design, production, and delivery of our company services. His ultimate goal for the company is to establish SEDG as a well recognized brand name in residential consulting services. Mr. Hillman enjoys spending time with his family at his home in Magnolia, Texas with his wife Cheryl, and children, Alyson, Cameron and Ashley. He also enjoys playing guitar and piano, writing music, photography, fishing, and boating. He also enjoys visiting his home town of Ganado, Texas.
Jarrod Hamilton Senior Project Manager Mr. Hamilton is an Austin area native and proud graduate of Texas A&M University where he received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 2000. Prior to joining SEDG, Mr. Hamilton worked as a project engineer and project manager at Concept Engineers, Inc. His active practice in structural engineering includes all aspects of project execution including engineering analysis and design, regulatory agency compliance, technical production, and management. His exposure to a wide variety of projects in several states includes residential, commercial, educational, industrial, institutional and healthcare. His experience with building systems includes extensive design and analysis of wood, steel, concrete and composite structures. Mr. Hamilton has developed communication, organization, and project and personnel management skills that have complimented his professional growth. Mr. Hamilton resides in Spring, TX with his wife Rhonda and two daughters Felicity and Charlize.	Donald Brick Vice President of Business Development Donald Brick is a proud Houston native who has enjoyed living and working around the Houston area all his life. His interest in business began early in his career when he began his own property management business where he owned and operated a multifamily apartment project. He later added more projects to his portfolio which included storage facilities. He also owned and operated an Environmental company. Mr. Brick continued to develop his sales and marketing skills while employed in automotive sales for several years. It was while working in automotive sales that Mr. Brick got the opportunity to pursue a career in construction. His construction career began as construction field manager for Rago Construction where he was responsible for communication tower structural reinforcement solutions. Mr. Brick joined SEDG in 2001 and continued to manage several tower rehabilitation and upgrades. He effectively administered over 3 million dollars worth of construction contracts in the year 2001. With this experience, Mr. Brick has become very well versed in the telecommunication tower industry in all types of tower construction and foundation systems. He is certified in Fall Safety Protection. Mr. Brick’s excellent sales and marketing skills has contributed to the success of SEDG. As Sales and Marketing Manager he continually looks for ways SEDG can better offer services in all our areas of expertise. Mr. Brick enjoys spending time with his family at his home in Spring, Texas with his wife Dena and twin boys Collin and Braden. He also enjoys Fishing, Camping and Hiking.
